Welcome to the Loachapoka Elementary School Library, where students in Kindergarten through 6th grade are encouraged to explore, discover, create, and develop a lifelong love of reading and learning. Our library provides students and teachers with access to a diverse collection of print books, digital resources, and educational materials designed to support classroom instruction, literacy development, research, and independent learning.

The Loachapoka Elementary School Library is committed to creating a welcoming and engaging environment where every student can see themselves as a reader, learner, and explorer. Through meaningful library experiences, students develop skills in reading, research, information literacy, technology, critical thinking, and responsible use of information. The library also supports teachers by providing instructional resources and opportunities for collaboration that enhance learning across all grade levels.

The library is led by Taryn Welch, Library Media Specialist, who holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. With a focus on student-centered learning and literacy, the Loachapoka Elementary School Library strives to provide high-quality resources, engaging learning experiences, and opportunities that inspire students to ask questions, explore new ideas, and discover the joy of reading.

At Loachapoka Elementary School, the library is more than a place to check out books—it is a place to explore new worlds, discover new interests, build knowledge, and become lifelong learners.

The school library media program is at the core of effective learning and plays a vital role in curriculum development and student achievement. The mission of the Lee County Schools Library Media Program is to assist students and teachers in becoming effective users of ideas and information. This mission will be accomplished by

    • providing up-to-date, high quality, continuously accessible resources in a variety of formats which enrich student learning and improved achievement for all students.
    • structuring learning experiences across the curriculum to ensure that learners will be able to independently inquire, locate, analyze, share, and create new knowledge.
    • providing leadership, instruction, and consulting assistance in the design of learning strategies and the use of information technology.
    • collaborating with other educators to design learning strategies and skills needed for both lifelong learning and lifelong reading.
